It was at
that moment that I realized I needed to study my Bible.
I had always gone to church and Sunday
school, but we were never pushed to study the Bible except for
memorizing
specific scripture. And we did that to win prizes.
Later
that evening when I began to skim through the pages written in the King
James
Version, I felt a sense of confusion.
There was very little that I understood, so I put my Bible
away in order
not to face the frustration.
I asked
my pastor for help when I got older, but he didn't seem to relate well
to my
problem and was vaugue about answering my questions.
Later I learned that my childhood church was
not a Bible based church, so I needed to find one that was.
I put my
Bible away again thinking that maybe I wasn't smart enough to figure it
out or that it was written only for pastors.
It would be another ten years before I was
ready to commit myself to understanding the Bible no matter how long it
took. I remember
lifting my Bible in the
air and making a commitment to learn the Word of God, believe it, live
it and
teach it!
I'm
thankful that I did. It
was difficult at
first, but I ravished the opportunity to learn.
I couldn't get enough.
I came to
a point where I realized that I also needed to spend equal time putting
into
practice what I was studying. As
I
combined reading what I had learned with corresponding actions, my mind
became renewed with The Word of God. I
was amazed at how easily I was able to make the kind of changes in my
life that
brought forth the results I wanted.
It was
very exciting, and I'm happy to say that I still have that same
excitement
today.
How
blessed we are to have been given this instruction book for dealing
with all
the issues of life.
Are you
using the Christian Bible to overcome your circumstances? I hope so.
If not, I invite you to begin this exciting adventure of
walking with
God through His Word.
It will
take you beyond what people tell you, but as you continue moving
onwards and
upwards you will discover a place where all of life's troubles find
resolution
through the living Word of God.
If you
don't have a Bible, I suggest you get one and begin reading it. If you find it difficult
on your own as I did
at first, find a Bible based church where the uncompromised Word is
taught.
Here are
a few ways to make your beginning Bible study efforts create great
change in
your life for Christ.
Christian Bible Tips For Life Change
*
Share Christ with others. This
doesn't mean that you have to stand on a
street corner. It's
a lifestyle that
shines to others. When
the time is
appropriate, you can offer Biblical standards and solutions to others.
* Give God the credit and glory for
what
you have. Thank Him
out loud daily and
keep a smile on your face no matter what you're going through.
* Never be a source of trouble to others, but a messenger of God's love and peace. This is called practicing the Word. It leads to Christian maturity.
