Generate Affiliate Income For An Internet Home Business 

Many people desire to create a home business by means of a website presense on the Internet, but because they don't have a product or service to sell of their own, they don't see the possibility. However, what many successful website owners have discovered is that they didn't need a product, only the desire to work from home.  That is what this article is about, generating an income by advertising affiliate products on your website.  There are other ways to sell affiliate products but I will be dealing with website advertising only throughout this articles. 

When I began on the Internet I didn't know about affiliate products so I started off using only my own.  Then as I began to grow, I learned about affiliate programs but I didn't use them correctly.   It took awhile for me to understand how to get an affiliate business to actually make money for me.  So I will share what I have learned here. 

It may sound too good to be true, but the only investment you'll need is a website that will help you draw in the kind of traffic that will be interested in a product--most any product really! All you have to do is know how to draw the kind of traffic that will want your product.  To do this, you won't need a business loan or start-up capital, tons of space to store your product, or a large advertising budget.  You can begin today, just as you are, where you are and no matter who you are.

Having a lot of money is not an issue in order to create an affiliate income.  However, it's the fear of not having enough money that keeps many people from venturing out on their own to create a website home business.  They don't realize that generating an affiliate income can be done easily while still holding down a job. Then as an affiliate income grows, they will be able to transition from their job to their own business.   

This is because you can begin a home business with very little investment.  If you have a spare room or space in your home, a computer with an Internet connection, which most people do, you are ready to begin a home business that has the potential to generate an affiliate income.  All you will need to invest in is a website that is capable of marketing your product.  For information about doing this visit here for free information about what you need to do and what type of website you need.  This is a very small investment if you find the correct sources and information.

Affiliate marketing can be a great way for you to get started in your home business.  Later if you want to develop your own product to sell on your website like I do, you can do that when you're ready and while you're already making money from your affiliate programs.  This is because affiliate marketing will provide you with the opportunity to sell either a product or a service that is not yours but belonging to an affiliate marketing company.

Affiliate companies can be large or small or just another website owner like yourself who has their own product.  All that matters is that the product is a good product from a reputable source, and that it can be marketed.  So check out the products and the person or company behind them before you decide to represent them on your website.

Now, let's go over the process of selling affiliate products, step by step, so that you will understand how to generate an affiliate income. 

1.  You Are Called An Affiliate If You Sell The Product(s) Of Other Persons or Companies Through Their Affiliate Programs.

When you join an affiliate program for a company or a private person with a product, you become a joint venture partner with them to advertise and sell their product or products on your website.  Once you have filled out the online forms to become an affiliate with such, your website will either be accepted into the specific program immediately or you will have to wait for the affiliate company or person to approve your website for their product.

Make sure to read all of the information on their "Terms and Conditions" agreement before you sign up with them by returning their online form.  Also print out all terms and agreements to make sure that you follow what is expected of you to remain in the program.  

Once you become an affiliate, you will be able to place affiliate links in the form of display or text ads on your web pages. But don't rush to join a program. You have some homework to do first.

 2.  Before You Begin, It's Important That You Discover a Niche or Theme For Your Product.  

If you desire to earn a great affiliate income, you'll have to give thought to a specific website theme.  This is important for a content website (information site).  Without a theme, you will not be able to target the right visitors or potential buyers of your affiliate products.  It just takes a little thought and imagination to discover what will give you excitement to run your own business.

You must also give thought to creating a website address that matches your theme. It shouldn't be too long, and it should be as specific as possible.  See below for information that will help you to create a theme as well as your website address. 

3.  Create a Website That Is "SEO Friendly"

Your web pages must be created in such a way that they will meet the standards of the major search engines.  You must consider, keywords, links, back links, page title, the number of words and originality.  Your pages must not be copied from other websites. For instance this page is written from my experience and not copied from another website. Your site must be original and not a copy cat clone of another.

4.  Submit Your Website To The Search Engines To Market Your Site and Products On The World Wide Web.

You must submit your website to the search engines in order for your visitors to find you.  First, visit each of the Major search engines (currently Google and Bing-Yahoo) and submit your website, sitemap XML file and choose any preferences about your site at each search engine where they are given.  Without submitting your website, your affiliate income will be as far away as the other side of the globe.

5.  Place Affiliate Links Where They Will be Easily Seen By Your Visitors and Where They Will Have The Most Relevance On Your Website Pages.

Place the affiliate links for each of your products on relevant web pages for the best results.  For instance if you have an affiliate travel widget and your theme is "The Beauty of the Bahamas," you would want to place the widget on all of the pages where you talk about traveling to the Island rather than "how beautiful" the island is. This will target the traffic you want to those pages and get you more clicks for possible affiliate income for various methods of airline travel. You can get other affiliate products such as information books about the Bahamas for your description pages and so forth.  It's really that simple! 

6.  Receive Earnings From Your Affiliate Programs According To Their Terms and Conditions.

Most affiliate programs pay 30 to 45 days at the end of each month to qualified affiliates.  Each affiliate program has a minimum dollar amount that must be met in order to receive affiliate income.  They can range anywhere from $10.00 to $400.00, but mostly range between $50.00 and $100.00.  If the minimum dollar amount hasn't been met by the end of the month, then the money earned so far will be rolled over for the next month's earnings.  Once the accumulated amount in an affiliates account meets the minimum to receive a check, direct deposit or PayPal deposit, payment will be made in the required time period. 

The Key To Affiliate Sales:  When I build my first websites in 1999, I had a difficult time getting traffic.  I didn't realize that it was important what type of web host one chooses in order to get good page ranking on the Internet and thus, good exposure for products and or services.  It wasn't until 2007 that I found the means for generating an income from the type of website I was trying to build which was a "content website."
