Giving Through Jesus Christ

I hear many Christians say that they want more money so that they can give someday and be a blessing to God. But that's not how it works. We must live by faith. If you can't get that one statement into your heart, your giving will not bring increase, at least not consistently the way it should.

Romans 10:17 tells us that we must walk by faith and not by sight or what we can see, hear, touch or think about on our own if it goes against God's Word.

By taking this scripture to heart we are free to give in faith first before we have received financial blessings and we can expect to prosper from God as a result.

But, there is an important scriptural fact you must first incorporate into your thinking which will enhance your faith to receive a return from God whenever you give.

The sheer act of giving your very best to those in need can cultivate the best emotional satisfaction in your heart. Whatever form of help you extend, be it service or something of value, or money, you will undoubtedly receive a return.  That truth is make especially clear in Luke 6:38.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

But if this is true, then why are so many Christians living in poverty and without even their needs being met?

Because they are looking to their giving or the "act of their giving" as the reason why God will bless them.

Can you see why this is a problem that is separating your giving from God's blessings?  He's not withholding anything from you by any means.  That would be impossible for Him to do because He already made all the blessings we could ever need or want that are good for us available through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus Christ.

Let that sink in for a minute while you think about the fact that you are already blessed because of Jesus Christ.  There is nothing you or anyone can do to take away those blessings. However, while they exist infinitely, that doesn't mean that you will have them simply because you are not trying to obtain the God's way.  Most people are trying to receive by their giving and then wonder why they are worse off than before they gave.

Are you able to see that fine line of misunderstood faith that may be keeping you from living the Kingdom life promised us in Matthew.....stating that all of our needs and wants will be met?

If you can't see it, I will further explain.  You receive from God by your giving through Jesus Christ, not because you gave to Jesus Christ.  We cannot do anything on our own that would be good enough for God.  So everything we do and give to God must be given through Jesus Christ.
