Will Debt Consolidation Work For You?

Consolidation of your debt is often regarded as the first step towards credit card debt elimination.  However, this step of consolidating on your own without the assistance of professionals can only be accomplished only if you have good credit and you are able to obtain another credit card that will cover your current outstanding credit card debt.

One other way to do this is if you already have one or two credit cards that you have not used to transfer your other card balances to for consolidation.  However, they need to possess the criteria as described at the end of this article.

This is what can happen for you by using the method of consolidating credit card debt with only one or two of your credit cards to combine the accumulation of your debt:

  • Consolidate your monthly credit cards and other unsecured debt into 1 simple payment.
  • Eliminate over the limit fees and late charges.
  • Stop creditor delinquency and end collection calls!
  • There are no hidden fees.
  • the payoff of debt is quick.
  • Dramatically lower interest rates!
  • No waiting period to get started.
  • No minimum financial requirements.
  • We eliminate most creditors late charges and harassing phone calls.
  • Help you repair your credit report and dispute any inaccuracies to improve your credit score.

Consolidating Credit Card Debt by using balance transfers to put all of your debt onto one card:

You will need to find a card that offers a low interest rate for a period of time.  However, these offers are currently difficult to find.  If you still have good credit, you may be able to get an initial low APR period during which the APR is generally 0% (or some low figure) for six months to a year.  This is what will make consolidating credit card debt this way the most beneficial.

Besides this low APR, the offers for consolidating credit card debt also include things like no interest rate on the purchases made during first 5 months (or some other initial period) of balance transfer.  Other benefits include programs such as reward points on the member's reward program of the credit card you are consolidating credit card debt to. These reward points can be redeemed for other attractive goods/rebates/rewards etc.

Sometimes, the new credit card (i.e. the one you are consolidating credit card debt to) might be a credit card that caters more to your current spending needs both in terms of the credit limits and the way you spend your money. For example, the new credit card might be a co-branded one offered by an airline that you have started traveling with frequently in recent times.

Consolidating credit card debt on such a card may open up much more benefits as compared to your current credit card which was based on your needs at the time of you applying for that card or cards. The credit card you are consolidating credit card debt to might open up discount offers to you as well.
