What is mature spiritual growth? Find out why you should achieve it and how to develop it.
When
Christians seek after money for money's sake, they take God
and our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ, out of the equation for financial growth.
Doing this will keep one from developing the kind of
faith needed to trust that God can accomplish all things in
our lives.
I don't believe that any Christian makes a conscious decision to make money the center of their lives, it just sneaks up on a person when he or she goes in a direction that leads them away from the Word. For instance many Christians today are looking to the Secret and the Law of Attration for financial growth. It suggests information from the Bible while it insidiously whisks the reader away with thoughts such as thanking the universe or looking to universe for creating what we want.
Once a Christian takes their eyes off of God and looks to what God has created instead of God Himself, this is a form of idol worship which goes against the Word. It also causes us to be thankful, kind and considerate for the purpose of getting money or things rather than because the Bible tells us to "love our neighbors as ourselves" meaning that we should want to be obedient to the scriptures for the sake of pleasing God, not for getting money.
Because many Christians don't read the Word, they believe they are practicing Biblical principles when following worldy programs that include a few Biblical concepts without the spirit or integrity of the Bible. Then as soon as they experience failure they blame God or say that God didn't want to bless them, even though they did everything as outlined in the program.
With God it's not what we do that makes His Word work! It's when we believe His Word by faith that it manifests what we want according to God's Will (His Word). This is why spiritual growth is necessary when we look to God for the financial prosperity He promises His children.
There is no room for thinking such thoughts as, "I'll get the money first and then study the Bible." Chances are good that you will never get the money you pray for and you will more than likely become discouraged and forget about the Word as troubles begin to plaque your life.
Spiritual growth that is not based upon scripture, but worldy knowledge or philosophy, will not produce the right mindset to rest in Christ by faith for what you want. Instead you will be looking to yourself or others, making empty claims that you have what you want and thinking you'll get them because of what you're doing rather than having faith in the power of Jesus Christ's name.
Without the strength of building our lives upon a strong foundation of Jesus Christ, which results in a mature spiritual growth, somehow, someway there is going to be a breakdown of trusting in God when something goes wrong.
The first response to problems will be to look at the circumstances with worry and fear rather than by trusting God by faith for resolution. If we're not armed at all times with the Word, we won't be able to rest within the peace of Jesus Christ through troubles, but instead be defeated by fear, worry and doubt.
Jesus
is our redeemer. He
redeemed us from sin, (spiritual) death, the curse of the law,
sickness,
disease, failure, etc. Jesus is our reason why we can be free to
succeed in all
areas of life!
Accepting
that truth and
acting upon it develops an attitude of desiring God's wisdom,
knowledge, blessings, confidence and boldness.
As
Christians it's
important that we follow God's lead instead of getting involved with
financial programs and opportunities that are lead by men and women not
committed to God's Word. That's not to say that we can't use practical
solutions and information from financial experts along with our faith
in God, but we should be careful who we trust.
If
you cause yourself to
stray from a foundation of Jesus Christ, you will not be able to
completely
develop the spiritual growth mindset or strength that
taps into God's ability to overcome difficulties such as
financial or job loss for instance. This is because you can't have that
peace of mind on
your own. It can only be accomplished through the work of Jesus Christ
on the
cross.
God
desires for you to
receive all of His blessings, but you must trust in what He says over
all else
by following the scriptures. Both Old and New Testaments give you the
promise
of every blessing you desire for health, wealth, success and inner
growth. In the continuation of this study, The Parable
Of The Sower, you'll receive the foundation for
that
life right from the mouth of Jesus Christ.
He is our rock and our foundation. He describes the process of how you can make Him your rock and foundation in Mark 4:13:20 where He describes the four levels of faith.
