2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Tithes and offerings are the scriptural means by which God is able to finance the Christian church and missions for the sake of spreading the Gospel. However, as we commit to paying our tithes and offerings consistently, we will receive financial and material blessings. This lesson will teach you how to give money to God with the right attitude.

It
is Biblically correct
to pay tithes (one-tenth of your income) to the church where
you attend that is Bible
based and is a
spiritual blessing to you.
According to Malachi 3:10-11, you will receive a window of heaven
blessing when
you pay your tithes, but you have to know how to put faith over your
giving to
make it prosper you financially and other areas of your life.
It is the
responsibility of the church you attend to help you do this.
This is why
many Christians are drowning financially. They are not taught
about how
to practice Kingdom living.
The leaders
of your church should be held accountable for what they do with the
tithes and
offerings they receive. They should be willing to post a graph
showing
where and how they spend the money they receive. They should
always make
that information available to anyone who asks within the congregation.
The church I attended as a child always posted their graph
within the sactuary where everyone could see.
They should also provide Bible studies and counseling to help their
members
take part in God's Wealth Plan to promote and teach Kingdom living
described in Matthew 6:25-34.
If all they do is take their
congregation's money without teaching how to increase it, they are not
doing
their job.
Wisdom
dictates that if
church members are taught how to increase their tithes, they will be
able to
give more into the church.
We should love to give our money to God and as we do we will receive increase not because we give but because the Word says we will receive financial increase by centering upon God first or giving His Word first place in our lives according to Matthew 6:25-34 (Kingdom Living). We need to live God's Word as we learn it. Then we will prosper in all areas of our lives, not just financial. However, we can expect financial blessings in abundance.
Obedience In Giving Tithes and Offerings:
We're
told in Malachi
3:10-11 to pay our tithes to God and in Luke 6:38 we're told that
whatever we
give, we'll receive again. We're to give financially
through tithes
and offerings
and God will meet our needs and desires. We must trust God by faith
that
He'll
keep His Word to us. That means that we must give first and trust that
He will
bless us. We should also give our talents to the Lord in the area of
His will for our lives and He will not only increase our talents and
abilities, but He will bless us with financial opportunities as we do.
Even
if you have little money, you can still be obedient
to God by giving tithes and offerings. In fact it will help
you
to
build your money and get out of debt. Give out of the little
that
you
do have.
A few pennies, nickels, or dimes; give what you can and put your faith
over
that money to be blessed. Then when you receive increase,
raise
the amount that you give to God. In time you will see
increase
not from your giving, but from your attitude of obedience and respect
for what God has given you.
If you don't have enough money or faith to give to God, then give Him
your time
and use your faith that God will bless you financially as you conserve
your money with an attitude of good stewardship. Training
yourself to
give out of obedience to God will develop the "spirit of giving" in
your heart
and open the door for financial and material blessings.
Your money will grow out of the consistency of your giving,
so don't
give up if
you don't receive immediately.
When you do give, ask God in prayer to bless your money, thank Him, and then be at peace about money and believe that God has already blessed you.
Also give
quietly
(Matthew 23:5). If you want to be
blessed, don't
be showy about your giving, do it in silence. God likes us to
give quietly
and in private, so don't brag about what you give, keep that
information between
you and God whenever possible. Sometimes our giving must
become common
knowledge, but when you have a choice, choose to give God's way, with
honor,
respect, and dignity.
And don't
forget to give with a cheerful heart with thanksgiving
according to 2 Corinthians
9-6-8 and Philippians 4:6.
Philippians
4:19
But
my God shall supply
all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Look to God as your provider rather than the world's system to provide for you. Doing this will put God at the center of your money so that you keep your eyes on Him rather than the money itself. You will always have more than what you need when you do this.
